Korameenu Fish Recipe | Murrel Fish Curry | Snakehead Murrel Fish Curry | Korameenu Pulusu | Fish Recipe
1. Ingredients:
Fish (korameenu) – 1 kg
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Red chilli powder – 2.5 tsp
Rock salt – 2.5 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 2.5 tsp
Ground nut oil – 7 tbsp
Onions –4 (make them paste)
Coriander leaves – 1 handful
Tamarind – 1 lemon size
(soak tamarind in 250 ml water for 30 mins, squeeze the juice)
Water – 250 ml (to add in curry)
2. Ingredients for coriander masala mix:
Coriander seeds – 2 tsp
Cumin – 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds – ½ tsp
3. Preparation of coriander mix powder:
1) In a pan dry roast coriander, cumin and fenugreek seeds on low flame for 3 mins
2) Allow it to cool and make it into fine powder.
4. Marinating Fish:
1) Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, rock salt, ginger garlic paste to fish pieces
2) Mix them well, set aside for 1 hour.
5. Procedure:
1) Heat oil in a wide pan, add onion paste
2) Fry in on low flame for 5 mins
3) Add coriander leaves
4) Fry on low flame for 5 mins (keep stirring, so that it will not be burnt)
5) Add marinated fish
6) Flip the pieces
7) Cover and cook on low flame for 5 mins
8) Gently flip the pieces, cover and cook on low flame for another 5 mins
9) Add tamarind juice, give a mix
10) Add 250 ml water, again mix it. Cover and cook on medium flame for 10 mins
11) Add coriander mix powder (just prepared). Mix
12) Cover and cook on low flam for 5 mins
13) Switch off the flame and allow it to rest for one hour
14) Serve it with hot rice.
Note: If you don’t have a measuring cup, regular teacup will be approximately 100 ml
