RIDGE GOURD DAL WITH HEALTH BENEFITS | BEERAKAYA PAPPU | RIDGE GOURD TOMATO DAL

Ingredients: Tur dal – 200 gms Green chilli – 2-3 Onion –1 Ridge gourd – 300 gms Tomato – 2 Coriander leaves – 1 bunch Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp Red chilli powder – 1.5 tsp Table salt – 1.5 tsp Ingredients for tempering:

Groundnut oil – 1 tbsp Garlic cloves – 5-7 Mustard seeds – ½ tsp Cumin seeds – ½ tsp Red chilli – 3-4 Curry leaves – 1 sprig Procedure:

1) Take turdal in pressure cooker, add 400 ml water, green chilli, onion, ridge gourd, tomato, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, red chilli powder 2) Pressure cook on medium flame for 3 whistles 3) Add salt and mix well 4) Heat oil in a kadai, add garlic cloves 5) Fry them on low flame till they turn light brown color 6) Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli 7) Fry on low flame for 2 mins 8) Add curry leaves, mix them 9) Add cooked dal and mix well 10) Add 150 ml water or according to desired consistency 11) Cover and cook on low flame for 5 mins 12) Add finely chopped coriander leaves, mix well and switch off the flame 13) Healthy ridge gourd turdal can be served with rice or chapati Note: If you don’t have a measuring cup, regular teacup will be approximately 100 ml (100 gms)
